JENNY AT NJPAC!
WHAT CAN I SAY! HOW MANY WORDS CAN BE USED TO DESCRIBE OUR GIRL JENNY? THE ONE THAT COMES TO MIND, ESPECIALLY AFTER THURSDAY NIGHT IS: PHENOMINAL!
Jenny opened the show with her standard opening, a smashing version of "One Night Only"
SHe got the crowd going with "Spotlight" and invited everyone to clap and sing along.
She spoke about Filming "Winnie" and that she had gone full circle now back in Newark. She started her tour here, and this was her first concert since it ended.
"I Believe in Music " was the first time she really brought the house down. She went into the audience, invited several members to sing, and one over enthusiastic male did some bump and grind dance moves with Jenny! Those of us in the first tier called for her to come up there, but Jenny said she needed to get permission from the big bucks donators down below!(LOL)
Back to the movies next with a bounvcy versio of "I Love You I DO", follwed by the second show-stopping moment.
Jenny started doing her version of Chaka's "Sweet Thing", and invited a young lady from Newark who was sitting in the first row to sing along with her. Insisting that this wasn't planned ahead of time, this young lady was so impressive that Jennifer joined to backup singers and let her sing lead
After the number Jenny told the audience that it was people like that who truly inspired her and gave her energy.
But then the "spotlight" was all Jenny's
She sang a medly of "I Will Always Love You" then moved it right into "And I am Telling You...." I think the whole city of Newark was brought to its knees and may still have not recovered. I know I haven't.
Since I spoke to Jenny outside Good Morning America two weeks ago, I didn't mind at all being in the first tier for this show. I wouldn't mind being on the roof to hear her sing! If Newark is any indication, our girl will be the cultural icon of the twenty-first century.
GOD has truly blessed her , and us for sharing her with us!
